As anything Rian Johnson, the director of Star Wars Episode VIII, posts on his social network profile(s), his latest statement saying: “I can’t believe we’re halfway through the shoot. (We’re halfway through the shoot!)“ sparked plenty of attention from media and fans.
Indeed, it sounds almost unreal. To think it was only a few months ago the filming officially started, it sounds incredible the production is moving along so swiftly, considering the scope of the project.
Even more interesting are two very cool photos of the filming posted on Rian Johnson’s Tumblr account
Eight weeks down, with eight to go…
Given each day equates to about one minute in the film
This means about 56 minutes of footage is complete
Sadly this means the complete film is going to be very near to two hours, and completed for the original May 2017 release
On the plus side this does mean the actors can schedule other work throughout 2017, then expect the marketing machine to kick in with D23 through to December 2017
