Personally, I enjoyed Star Wars The Force Awakens, but do think it come with its share of downsides. Of course, there are plenty of things every single fan would do differently or would like to see added to the film.

Cracked published a very interesting theory on their YouTube Channel posing a question about how much J.J. Abrams understands the franchise, seeing how he left so many things unanswered and left the audience guessing, perhaps a bit too much. Regardless of what you think about the theory, they do make some great points… as they usually do. Check it out.

Ever since there are Star Wars fans, there have been attempts on making lightsabers a reality. This iconic weapon made its way into our pop culture and has been there for decades. Many have tried to replicate them as a perfect collectible item, but as Verge.com report, one man has taken it a step further. Lightsaber creator Yoda has managed to produce probably the most authentic replicas to date. As seen on the video below, they are really something special.

More information, clips, and pictures can be found on the creator’s website. Meanwhile, my birthday is approaching, so… y’know, if anyone wants a friend for life.

As reported by MakingStarWars the preparations for filming of Star Wars Episode VIII are well under way in Ceann Sibeal in Ireland. It is clear by the beehive structures seen on the photo that the location is to replace Skellig Michael the production had to move away from. Also, seeing how the structures seem sturdy and there is serious building machinery in place, this location might be expecting seriously long filming with plenty of air time in the final film.

Everyone is in on Photoshoping photograph of Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley posted on Hamill’s Twitter profile, recreating the epic image of Luke Skywalker training with Yoda.

In fact, as UniLad reports, there are so many versions of the picture, it is getting hard to pick the best ones. Not to be left behind, we decided to do our own, so we did one of the two stars enjoying themselves on Dubrovnik set of Episode VIII, something we really wanted to see last month, but didn’t. After all, isn’t that what photo editing is all about – twisting reality to suit your wishes?

If there is one thing Star Wars movies are known for, it has to be special effects. The franchise has been pioneering some outrageous FX ever since A New Hope. They help present the story and provide for a more immersive experience. They can also be damaging if done wrong and actually draw audience away from the movie. Unfortunately we’ve seen a few examples of how over-reliance on special effects can damage a movie in the prequels.

The Force Awakens signified a return to many of the classic Star Wars values when it comes to movie making and I am happy to say, the FX were amazing. Inverse.com published an article with a great collection of movie clips explaining various parts of special effects creation in the movie and they make for an excellent reference for anyone interested in seeing behind the scenes of Star Wars’ brand of movie magic. We’re bringing you a few clips from Variety, Art of The Film, and a really nice breakdown clip from FXguidetv with interviews (long one, but so worth it). Rey’s origins are one of the main mysteries surrounding the plot of Star Wars The Force Awakens, and it is likely this story will continue to play an important role in Episode VIII as well. It is without a question the Force is strong in her and she might easily turn out to be descendent of a Jedi. Of course, majority of the people are guessing she has some sort of family connection to Luke Skywalker as it was hinted in the movie. However, I’m not sure I even like that idea.

There is a very interesting theory on MoviePilot published by Jack Carr who claims that Rey is a Kenobi! Not only that, but his theory is that Rey is the daughter of Obi Wan Kenobi. He backs this up with a few reasons, but I found two to be the most intriguing.
First, Obi Wan Kenobi was known for his Jedi mind trick that Rey uses in The Force Awakens. Even though he was not the only one to use it, he is still in viewer’s mind the most prominent user of that power.
Second reason why Rey might be a Kenobi – and I love this one because it makes sense from a filmmaking point of view – Rey speaks with an English accent, as does Obi Wan. The way Rey speaks is no accident. Her accent is different from all the other main characters who all speak with an American accent. This is also true of all the Skywalker family members.

It’s an interesting theory, but one of the comments on the text raises a great point. If Rey is Obi Wan’s daughter, she should be around 40 or 50 years old if we roughly follow the time line. However, I don’t think this alone is the reason to dismiss a theory Rey is a Kenobi. Especially seeing how, she is the perfect age to be his granddaughter.

Oh yeah, and I didn’t forget Qui-Gon Jinn also speaks with an accent… kinda and also does mind tricks… kinda

I know I did. Ewan McGregor embodied Obi Wan Kenobi in the prequels rather well. As reported by CinemaBlend, he was asked at the recent Graham Norton Show about his appearance in Star Wars The Force Awakens, which many probably missed and rightfully so. It wasn’t actually a screen appearance, as it was one line of dialogue saying: “These are your first steps.” which played during Rey’s vision sequence after touching the light sabre. However, there is a funny story involved in the whole thing so we’re bringing you the full clip below.

CinemaBlend also published a clip with the audio of entire Rey’s vision sequence with all the lines and characters they belonged to.

Video of John Boyega and Daisy Ridley rapping with a Star Wars behind the scenes video in the background is going viral, as one would expect. Star Wars rap might sound cringe worthy, but we are happy to say, this duo was able to pull it off. With Boyega’s beat box skills and Ridley’s rapping, all accompanied by cool behind the scenes shots, it is a must see video for all the Star Wars fans. We even got to see some of Daisy’s dance moves. Oh Daisy, do we need to like you even more?

Who would think, in this day and age, there would be a public backlash against casting a woman in a lead role of an action film? As ScreenCrush reports, there has been a rather large amount of negative comments by Star Wars fans regarding the lead role in the upcoming Rogue One film, which is played by Felicity Jones, star of such films as Theory of Everything and Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Commenters (mostly male) seem to be angry at the fact another girl has been cast in the main role of a Star Wars franchise film. Some also have a problem with her being white apparently.

Regardless of your personal preferences, it is wrong to attack someone doing their job and trying to make a living for being the wrong gender, colour, or whatever else characteristic they are, which is not impeding their ability to do the work well. Get with the times people…
