Australian Star Wars Burlesque Seems Very Intriguing

By now we all know Star Wars franchise has spread over a range of products and entertainment media, so it comes as no surprise that there is a quite successful Star Wars themed burlesque making waves in Australia as reported by Huffington Post Australia:

Aside from the fact sensual dancing in Star Wars outfits usually generates positive comments from the fans of the franchise, it does seem like the creators of this particular show aim a bit higher than simply exploiting the globally recognised brand. The performances seem to be laced with good humour, good dancing, and yes, a bit of tantalising imagery as well. All in all, it’s a shame they do not have any tour dates outside of Australia for now. As reported by MOS Croatia, we are unlikely to see him in a fight seeing how there will be no Jedis in the movie, but the presence of the Sith Lord will be enough for the fans. With June rapidly passing and the start of the summer here, the Rogues One’s premier date in December suddenly doesn’t seem so distant.

12974360_1149683128389894_7726630290271033868_n

We are big fans of videogames here on StarWarsDubrovnik and have seen a development of the Star Wars themed games from the very first ones to today. This being said, we are interested in what is to come tomorrow and for that we turn to this clip from E3, posted by MathChief YouTube Channel.

Not bad. Visceral Games have the most of media attention at the moment and everyone is really anxious to experience what they have to offer. Hope you guys can handle the pressure.

By the way, this look into the future inevitably made me think of my absolute favourite Star Wars game: Star Wars Jedi Knight, Dark Forces II!

Scientists Discover Largest Two-Suns Tatooine-like Planet

12974360_1149683128389894_7726630290271033868_n

Is there any scene more iconic from the very beginning of the Episode IV, the very first Star Wars movie, than the view of the two suns over Luke Skywalker’s home world of Tatooine?

Well, there actually are planets which could provide for a similar view and the largest ever discovered is called Kepler 1647-b. NASA reports, as published by CNet, the planet is approximately as old as the Earth and its stars are similar to our Sun, with one being larger and one smaller. The planet is too far to see with a naked eye and although it is located in a so-called habitable zone, it is unlikely able to support life as we know it. Too bad, just think of that sunset!

CNet writer thinks it should be named Tatooine II. I second that. Anyone else?

VIDEO: Some Deleted Scenes from the Original Trilogy are Awesome!

12974360_1149683128389894_7726630290271033868_n

Whether you are a more recently inducted Star Wars fan, or are an old timer like myself, you are almost certainly a big fan of the original trilogy. While these movies are of course great, apparently there were some deleted scenes which didn’t make it into the final cut that might have put a different spin on a few parts of the story. Some of the most intriguing deleted scenes are published by WhatCulture’s official YouTube channel.

So, what do you think? Which one would you like to see make it to the final cut? Personally, I loved the Jerjerrod – Endor story. That would really add another dimension to the whole thing. It’s a shame we didn’t get to see more of those moral dilemmas, but there’s always the next episode…

12974360_1149683128389894_7726630290271033868_n

How many times has the word “collectible” been paired with the name “Star Wars” in the modern history? I bet the answer is quite a high number. Here’s one more for you. Star Wars The Force Awakens score has been issued on vinyl records that display holograms of the Millennium Falcon and a Tie Fighter when played.

This thoroughly cool piece of merchandise was unveiled in London and will undoubtedly spark plenty of interest with the fan community. If you are interested (and we know you are), the price for a single vinyl is going to be around EUR 45.

The influence of Star Wars franchise on pop culture is seen all around us even today. In fact, it was the first Star Wars movie to come out, A New Hope the one that widely popularised the idea of a hologram, as explained by the creator of the vinyl holograms in a video published by EuroNews, make sure to check it out.

Are Pugs the Ultimate Star Wars Fans’ Pets?

12974360_1149683128389894_7726630290271033868_n

In my house we are constantly battling over whether or not to get a dog, or worse yet – what kind of dog to get. I know my wife loves pugs, but I’m not completely sold on these funny-looking, squished-faced smelly toy dogs. However, I am seeing a whole lot of them being dressed up as Star Wars characters for some reason, and they pull it off too. Just take a look at these:

There are even Star Wars themed Pug Parades, as the one reported on by The Telegraph where one could see a whole slew of pugs prancing around dressed like our favourite characters.

So, apparently, this breed is not such a bad choice for Star Wars fans after all. Who knows, I might even consider it. Besides, what are the chances a self-respecting doberman is going to let me dress him up in a Jar Jar Binks costume?

Star Wars Shoes Look… Interesting

12974360_1149683128389894_7726630290271033868_n

No need in pointing out we are Star Wars fans here at StarWarsDubrovnik. However, not even a lifetime of devotion to this sci fi epic nor the new found love of the series following Episode VIII filming in Dubrovnik has made us actually like any of the models of Star Wars shoes featured in a recent post by io9.

Apparently, company called Irregular Choice has successfully obtained the license to produce Star Wars themed footwear and they have made quite an effort to prove not everything wearing the famed Star Wars logo is worth having (although we knew that after seeing The Phantom Menace… yes, I’m still on about The Phantom Menace). So, for our fashion oriented readers, here’s some slick sci-fi footwear.

Rogue One – A Star Wars Story Gets Sent Back for Re-shooting by Disney!

12974360_1149683128389894_7726630290271033868_n

Star Wars fans are anxiously expecting the premier of Rogue One – A Star Wars Story, which is coming in the oh so distant December. The anticipation spiked recently when the official trailer was finally released.

However, it now seems Disney is not satisfied with the director’s cut of the film, and when Disney is not satisfied with something, you can bet they will make you do something about it. As PageSix reports, quoting an unnamed Hollywood source, Disney executives have decided to do a re-shoot in July following some less than delighted feedback from the initial viewings of the first cut. Apparently, The Force Awakens has proven to be such a well-received movie it set the bar high for the franchise films to follow it.

Qualifications of the movie director Gareth Edwards are hardly questionable as his previous films like 2014 Godzilla remake and In the Shadow of the Moon (2010) have been well received by the audiences and critics alike. However, it seems Disney is demanding nothing less than an ultimate crowd pleaser from this new instalment in the Star Wars franchise.
